Programs & Events

Description: Babysitting offered in our glass-enclosed children’s room so that parents and kids can see each other when the parent is in the meeting that is running at that time.  Parents are allowed to have their kids in there any time they are at a meeting, however during Babysitting Hours, they will also have the benefit of having someone play with and watch their little ones.  This is for ages 1-6.  All babysitters have been background checked for safety and have experience babysitting little children.   

Mission: Mothers and Fathers who need to be able to attend meetings and focus on their recovery might not be able to because of time and financial constraints.  We support everyone getting the opportunity for healing by assisting them with their children.   We want this to be free/donation only so everyone can afford this.  

Budget: Insurance, Upkeep of Room, Cleaning, Administration – paperwork, release, Supplies, Babysitter fees.

Frequency: Goal is every day.  Afternoon and Evening.  And consistent enough to be on the schedule for people to plan accordingly.

What we need: 

Babysitters able to pass background check, who don’t smoke or do any drugs.  Preferably in recovery, but not necessary.  Send a message through our contact form if interested.

Description: “Recovery class” in one of our meeting rooms in a structured and informative way.  Combines “babysitting” with learning valuable tools about feelings, attitude, respecting their parents’ direction, processing what they experience, etc in a safe environment with a licensed counselor who is “12 step recovery friendly.”

Budget: Insurance, Room Rental, Cleaning, Administration – paperwork, release, Supplies, Counselor fees.

Frequency: Goal is to start 1-2x a week at peak meeting times.  The first is going to start Saturday mornings during the 9:15am women’s meeting.   The next one will be during a 5-7pm time period to allow for all members of meetings from 5:30-7pm to take advantage.  This must be signed up for ahead of time.

What we need: 

Counselors or volunteers who are members of a 12 step fellowship and are able to pass a background check.  They will be trained with the Pre-Covery curriculum, are familiar with the 12 steps and the family disease of alcoholism, have experience working with young children and are comfortable in a group.  Limit will be 10 children.  We would LOVE if you would be willing to donate your time or discount it so that this service can be offered more often.   Please send a message through our contact form if interested.

Mission: Prevent Addiction in the next generation – Mothers and Fathers who need to be able to attend meetings and focus on their recovery might not be able to because of time and financial constraints.  We support everyone getting the opportunity for healing by assisting them with their teens.  Especially if those teens have been struggling with their growing up and where they fit in.   We want this to be free/donation only so everyone can afford this.  And Addiction and Alcoholism are a family dis-ease.  We know that generation after generation can struggle with either addiction or codependency, and that as the Parent in recovery learns how to live in a healthier way, their teens can be learning tools to prevent the addiction or codependency from becoming actualized in their own life.

Description: Trauma Yoga Class with a licensed trauma yoga instructor. 

Mission: People who grew up in dysfunction or addiction, or who otherwise experienced trauma in their lives, tend to guard and live outside of their bodies.  This amazing and gentle yoga practice puts you mindfully in touch with your body and helps you release trauma energy in a safe environment and relax.    Goal: FREE FOR ANYONE/Donations accepted, but not necessary.

Budget: Mats, Insurance, Room Rental, Cleaning, Administration – paperwork, release, Supplies, Instructor fees.

Frequency: Once a month at first and if the demand is great enough to do it twice a month.  We did this already through an instructor and a grant through PACT Coalition and it was very successful and well received.  Help us bring it back!

Description: General Yoga class available for everyone.  The Meeting Space non-profit joins with The Phoenix non-profit to provide this excellent service for people in recovery!

Mission: To create a safe place for people to experience being “in their body” and healing.  Yoga is an excellent tool for mind-body-spirit reconnection and if anyone needs that, it is the recovering addict or alcoholic and the person healing from childhood wounds as well.

Budget: Insurance, Room Rental, Cleaning, Instructor (if another class without Phoenix) fees.

Frequency: Currently Running: Thursday mornings at 7am.  Maybe another morning if we have enough interest and funds.

Description: Real tools and insights into how to process triggers in a healthier way.  These classes are run by Anger Management professionals and licensed therapists.

Mission: Anger and Resentment are powerful emotions and thought processes that can trigger a relapse, or at least destroy valuable relationships, job opportunities and health.  We know how important learning how to live without the grouch and the brainstorm.  The goal of this class is to prevent domestic violence, relapses back into addiction or alcohol abuse, and career destruction and instead empower people to have a different lease on life instead.  Therapy can be difficult to get and afford.  We want everyone to have healing resources! All welcome.  GOAL is to be FREE/Donation only.

Budget: Insurance, Room Rental, Cleaning, Administration – paperwork, release, Supplies, Counselor fees.

Frequency: We had these 2x a week, one for men and one for women.  They were set up for people who were government ordered to take the classes and were open to people in recovery.  There was great interest by the recovery community in this tool!  We want to bring them back JUST FOR people in recovery and those not ordered to take the class.

What we need:

Description: Real tools and insights into how to process GRIEF in a healthier way!  In addiction, we learned to stuff our feelings.  Here we learn how to feel them in a healthy, productive way.  Great for those who lost someone as well.  These classes are run licensed therapists.

Mission: Sadness and Grief are powerful emotions and can lead to depression, apathy and suicidal ideations if the person doesn’t have proper tools and support.  If they are an addict as well, this thought processes that can trigger a relapse, or at least destroy valuable relationships, job opportunities and health.  You are not alone! The goal of this class is to give you a safe place that is 12 step friendly to share, hear and learn.  All welcome.  Therapy can be difficult to get and afford.  We want everyone to have healing resources! All welcome.  GOAL is to be FREE/Donation only.

Description: Class that teaches how to use Narcan to prevent an overdose in someone who may have taken too much of a drug.  Free Narcan and Fentanyl Test Strips!  The Meeting Space Non-Profit and Foundation For Recovery partner up to provide this excellent resource at The Meeting Space.

Mission: Since Narcan has been made available, MANY lives have been saved!  In our recovery community, we are not too far from the friend who could relapse, the family member who didn’t get into recovery but might need to, or someone who is trying to get sober and tripped.  Help us save lives by providing this valuable service.

Budget: Room Rental, Cleaning, Projector, Supplies, Promotion & Instructor.

Frequency: 1 -2x a month.

What we need:

Description: Learn the 12 Steps in ONE DAY or ONE WEEKEND!  Experienced members of different 12 step programs teach the steps with their experience, strength and hope.  They are volunteers and this is a service to freely give what they have received and pass it on.

Mission: To provide the space, chairs, tables and supplies for as many of these workshops as possible to take place.  They last 5-6 hours generally.

Budget: Insurance, Room Rental, Cleaning, Administration – paperwork, Supplies.

Frequency: 1 -2x a month. Usually on a Saturday.

What we need:

Description: There are so many topics that we can cover in workshops with authors, speakers, 12 step members, etc who have real tools, experience and insights to offer our recovery community!  

Mission: To take one topic at a time and really dive deep into each of them to provide a RICH healing environment to really inspire and assist one in their recovery path!  All welcome.  GOAL is to be FREE/Donation only.

Topics include but not limited to: 

Love vs. Codependency.    Financial amends and budgeting.   Meth mouth & Dental assistance/ how to take care of teeth, get assistance to afford dental work.   Nutrition & Healing now that we are sober.  Government Assistance – How To Get.  Meditation – The Different Types and How To.   Special Authors / Book Signings.  Help with Legal Trouble, Courts.   Parenting in Recovery.   Sponsorship – How to Get One, Be One.  Journaling/Writing – How to.  And more!

Frequency: 1 -2x a month.  1-6 hours long.  Average 2 hours.

Description: Small intimate groups like meetings for: Spanish speaking members, friends and families of drug addicts, friends and families of sex addicts, people who grew up in dysfunction, programs for emotions or depression, couples in recovery, anorexia or bulimia, etc.

Mission: There are meetings that are very small and can only pay $10 an hour and we want to keep these meetings going (under 10 people) so that they have a safe place to heal and remain open to grow with new members as they come.  Statistically, programs like AA and NA have many more people and so a quicker way to grow.  We want everyone to have healing resources!  All welcome.  We want to offset the cost of the room so that we can afford to keep them on the schedule!
